Welcome to...

The Future!
(not really)

Picture
I've always liked the idea of being a photographer. I want to travel the world while capturing its beauty in my obnoxiously large and expensive camera. It's not a life of luxury, and it'd probably be hard to find work, but it's something I really like to do. My brother always says "I want to do something I love to do, that way I'll never work a day in my life!" And I think that's a good way to go about life.

I'm going to be taking photography classes next year so I can learn a little more about the basics. I still need to learn more about the importance of lighting and angles. It'll also help me see if I'm cut out to be a photographer. After High School, I might be going to Washtenaw, and there are some classes I was looking at there to help me. But the University I want to go to doesn't have any photography classes, but hey, that's a long ways away, right? Maybe some private classes.

There are a couple problems with my plan though. I'm going to be very busy with classes, sports or just keeping in shape in general, and possibly sleeping. Not really sure about the last one yet. I'm not really sure how I'm going to work all this out into a creative little agenda yet, but if it's meant to be, it'll work out. I'll just need to put in a little effort!

What is it like to be a

Photographer?

Job Description
Photographers create images that tell stories, paint pictures, or record events. To succeed in this highly competitive field, you need to be able to master both the artistic and the technical aspects of the job.
This may sound easy, but it's much harder then it looks. Photographers can use a tradition camera that uses film to record the picture, or an digital camera, which electronically records the picture.

Before they can take a picture, photographers have to make many technical decisions.
Like what equipment to use, like what lense, filters, film stocks, and lighting equipment. If you rely on natural light, you must position yourself perfectly, and wait for the light to be just right! When they are ready to take the picture, photographers need to choose what angle to shoot from, how close to get to the subject, and how to frame the shot.

Each of these decisions is made in such a way so as to give the picture a certain atmosphere, mood, or concept. And in addition to adjust before the picture, you can adjust after it too.
Most photographers have an understanding of computer editing software. Many photographers own their own businesses. In addition to taking the photographs, business owners have to arrange for advertising, schedule appointments, and sometimes mount and frame pictures. They also purchase supplies, keep records, bill customers, and may hire and train employees.

Educational Requirements
There's no specific education requirement for Photographers. However, if you want a good job, most people require at least some training in the photographic arts, whether it’s acquired through a formal degree program, vocational training, or extensive work experience.
